Campaign on arthritis to be held on Oct 12
Ahead of the World Arthritis Day on October 12, doctors point out that there is a rise in arthritis incidence in the city. Around 70 patients are detected with rheumatoid arthritis every month in city hospitals, it is learnt.

Hyderabad: Ahead of the World Arthritis Day
on October 12, doctors point out that there is a rise in arthritis incidence in the city. Around 70 patients are detected with rheumatoid arthritis every month in city hospitals, it is learnt.
In order to create greater awareness among citizens regarding this disease, city chapter of the Rheumatology Association will organise an arthritis awareness programme and screening camps on October 12 at the various city parks.
Speaking to Hans India, Dr PRS Gupta, Secretary of Rheumatology Association, Hyderabad Chapter, said, "Rheumatoid arthritis is very common and women are three times more likely to get affected than men." It can affect people in any age. Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, autoimmune condition in which a person's immune cells start attacking the membrane lining around the joints.
The camps would be held in several parks including Indira Park, ESI Park, Sainikpuri Park and Sarojini Nagar Park from 6 am to 9 am. During this drive, various rheumatologists from government and private hospital that includes NIMS Hospital, Gandhi Hospital, Apollo Hospital, Care Hospital and many more would be attending.
