Sindhu Hospitals launches BeyondA1C frontline screening for Diabetic complications in India
In Short
Sindhu Hospitals partners with MedicaMetrix's BeyondA1C to launch India's first AI-enabled point-of-care screening for diabetic, dialysis, and chemotherapy complications.

Sindhu Hospitals launches BeyondA1C frontline screening for Diabetic complications in India
HYDERABAD: Sindhu Hospitals, an initiative of Sai Sindhu Foundation, and BeyondA1C, a division of MedicaMetrix, Inc., today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to launch BeyondA1C testing at Sindhu Hospitals. The Sheffield One-Stop becomes its frontline mass screening test for diabetic complications, and regular BeyondA1C testing and could become a potential model for diabetic, dialysis and chemotherapy patients, in the first launch of these tests in India.
Diabetes quietly damages the body’s smallest blood vessels, affecting the nerves, kidneys, eyes and feet. Up to half of people with diabetic nerve damage have no symptoms when it is found, and some estimates put the share left undiagnosed in well-developed health systems at up to 80 percent.
The AI enabled device can deliver testing for 3 key clinical scenarios.
♦ Sheffield One-Stop: A screening test for people at risk of diabetes and suffering from established diabetes - assesses nerve function, foot, kidneys and metabolic health. It screens for several microvascular complications at one appointment, so patients don’t need a separate visit for each test.
♦ BeyondA1C Onco: It measures sural nerve function in both legs for those undergoing chemotherapy and compares it with the patient’s own baseline, so neuropathy is graded objectively and routed to the oncologist for personalized care.
♦ BeyondA1C Dialysis: Through the test, patients who are on regular dialysis receive an IWGDF 2023 risk category from 0 to 3, so the nephrologist can initiate early intervention based on the close surveillance report.
“Sindhu Hospitals is the right place to begin in India,” said Robert Rudelius, Chief Executive Officer, MedicaMetrix. “Its clinicians and its commitment to research will show what earlier testing means for patients with diabetes, cancer and kidney disease.”
“Finding diabetic complications early should be routine care,” said Dr. B. Soma Raju,
Consultant Cardiologist and Mentor Dire tor, Sindhu Hospitals. “BeyondA1C tests will become part of our specialties, including oncology and dialysis.” “Many patients with microvascular complications have no symptoms, which is why point of care screening is critical,” noted Dr. Smitha Nalla, Consultant Endocrinologist, Sindhu Hospitals. “Screening every patient at risk lets us act sooner.”
