Centre offers to back Quantum Bio Valley

Amaravati: The Centre has offered support to Andhra Pradesh’s proposed Quantum Bio Valley in Amaravati, with Union Health Minister J P Nadda announcing that a technical team would be sent to the state to discuss the project and explore ways to take it forward.

Nadda responded positively to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s proposal seeking recognition at the national level for the Quantum Bio Valley. Describing the Chief Minister’s concept as “excellent”, the Union Minister said Chandrababu’s suggestions would be considered and assured that the Centre would support the state in establishing the proposed facility.

Nadda made the announcement on Saturday while participating in development programmes for the health sector in Vijayawada, along with Chandrababu. He praised the state government’s Sanjeevani health care programme, describing the initiative as “outstanding”. The Centre would examine the possibility of implementing the programme at the national level, he said. Nadda assured central support for the state’s efforts in early disease detection, prevention, and delivery of affordable and better medical services.

Praising Chandrababu’s leadership, Nadda said Andhra Pradesh was in safe hands under his stewardship and described him as “a visionary and committed leader”. He recalled Chandrababu’s contribution to the development of both undivided Andhra Pradesh and the state after bifurcation.

The Union Minister appreciated the priority being accorded to healthcare and the efforts to strengthen medical infrastructure in the State. He said closer Centre-State coordination could help provide better healthcare services to people.

Nadda repeatedly referred to Chandrababu’s concept that “the kitchen is the pharmacy and food is medicine”, saying it was an important principle for maintaining good health. He stressed the need to promote awareness about disease prevention through healthy food and lifestyle rather than depending only on treatment after people fall ill.

Nadda appreciated Chandrababu’s commitment to irrigation projects, including the Polavaram Left Canal, Veligonda and Handri-Neeva projects. Irrigation was crucial to Andhra Pradesh’s development, he said, adding that efficient utilisation of water resources would contribute substantially to the state’s economic progress.
