Anakapalli: In view of Cyclone Arnab, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha visited the coastal villages of Payakaraopeta constituency on Tuesday and reviewed precautionary measures authorities concerned took to protect people from the cyclone’s impact.
The Home Minister inspected cyclone preparedness arrangements in Revupolavaram and Boyapadu villages of Nakkapalli mandal and visited rehabilitation centres in the villages, assessed the facilities provided to evacuate and enquired about arrangements made to ensure their safety and comfort.
At the rehabilitation centre in Revupolavaram, Anitha interacted with residents and enquired about their well-being amid the cyclone threat. She directed the officials to ensure that people staying at the centres faced no inconvenience and received all necessary assistance. The Home Minister later spoke to fishermen who had reached the Revupolavaram coast. Cautioning them about the cyclone’s intensity and the possibility of strong winds, she urged them not to venture into the sea for fishing until conditions improved.
Anitha appealed to residents to remain indoors and move to rehabilitation centres whenever necessary. In Boyapadu village, Anitha inspected the rehabilitation centre established in the cyclone shelter building and spoke to fishermen taking shelter there.
She enquired about their problems and stressed that the shelters are established to safeguard lives during the cyclone. She urged residents to remain vigilant, particularly in view of the possibility of strong winds when the cyclone crossed the coast.
The Home Minister also visited the command control room at the Nakkapalli Tahsildar’s office and reviewed the prevailing situation and the precautionary measures implemented by various departments. She offered suggestions to officials and instructed them to continuously monitor conditions in coastal villages and provide timely assistance wherever required.
