Movement launched to protect Kannadiga employment rights
Bengaluru: The‘Namma Naadu Namma Aalvike’ organisation is launching the ‘Nammanaadu Namma Udyoga Movement’ to protect employment opportunities for Kannadigas in Karnataka, ensure fair opportunities for local people in the private sector, and address discrimination in recruitment.
Companies, industries and factories that benefit from Karnataka’s land, resources and market must not deny employment opportunities to Kannadigas. Local people should not have to struggle for jobs in their own state. The movement aims to build public awareness and organised pressure on the government and industry to address this issue.
From IT and biotechnology companies to manufacturing units, factories, commercial establishments and service-sector businesses, Kannadigas must have fair access to employment. Complaints that local people are being denied jobs on the basis of language or regional background must be taken seriously, and the government should act to investigate such complaints.
The government must establish a clear and effective policy to improve employment opportunities for local people in the private sector. Reliable data on the share of Kannadigas employed across industries, including IT and biotechnology, should be collected and made public. There must also be a mechanism to monitor whether policies giving fair consideration to local candidates are being implemented effectively.
All political parties, including the Congress and the BJP, have a responsibility to address the employment concerns of Kannadigas. The government must ensure that Kannadigas receive a fair share of the opportunities created by Karnataka’s economic development.
The ‘Nammanaadu Namma Udyoga Movement’ will organise several programmes in the coming days. They have planned for Public Awareness Campaign, Documentation of Discrimination, Mobilising Young People, Representation to the Government, Protests and Demonstrations. The dates, venues and details of the programmes will be announced in the coming days.
The employment of Kannadigas is an issue that concerns the future of Karnataka. Young people must have fair opportunities to find work in their own state. Discrimination in recruitment must be questioned, and collective, democratic action is necessary to protect the interests of local people.
The ‘Namma Naadu Namma Aalvike’ organisation calls upon Kannada organisations, trade unions, students, young people and jobseekers to join the ‘Nammanaadu Namma Udyoga Movement’. Our demand is clear, Kannadigas must have fair employment opportunities in Karnataka. Discrimination in recruitment must not be tolerated. The interests of Kannadigas must receive priority in the state’s development.
