Guntur: CPI national executive member Muppalla Nageswara Rao called upon party leaders to gear up to contest the ensuing local body elections in Guntur district. A meeting of the CPI district executive committee was held at Mallayya Lingam Bhavan at Kothapet here on Thursday.
Addressing the meeting, he suggested that the party will make seats adjustments with like-minded parties willing to join hands with the CPI and move forward in the elections.
He said it had been decided to field CPI candidates in various divisions of Guntur and Tenali municipalities.
As elections are not currently scheduled in Mangalagiri and Ponnur, the party would decide on contesting there based on its future course of action.
