Union Minister of State for Rural Development Dr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar along with MLC Alapati Rajendra Prasad examining lodged paddy fields in Kollipara mandal on Wednesday
Guntur: The Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Dr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar said that the state government is committed to extending maximum possible assistance to farmers who suffered crop losses due to the two cyclones. He along with MLC Alapati Rajendra Prasad visited cyclone-affected areas in Kollipara mandal in Guntur district on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that farmers were expecting good returns as they received remunerative prices for their produce. However, the two cyclones, Arnab and Murasu, had caused extensive damage to paddy, black gram and cotton crops.
He said the CM had already written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking assistance for the affected farmers. He would also follow up with the Centre to secure maximum possible assistance and ensure that every affected farmer received relief. He directed officials to complete the enumeration within the next 48 to 72 hours and record the details of all affected farmers comprehensively. Farmers facing any difficulties during the enumeration process could contact the offices of local MLA Nadendla Manohar, Alapati Raja or his own office, he suggested.
