Guntur: Following the orders of the Central Election Commission, a new schedule has been released for the preparation of the electoral roll for the Krishna-Guntur Teachers’ Constituency. Guntur Municipal Corporation Commissioner K Mayur Ashok said that those who have completed at least three years of full-time teaching experience during the six years preceding the qualifying date of November 1, 2026, and are working in government-recognised secondary or higher-level educational institutions are eligible to register as voters.
He clarified that even those who were enrolled as voters previously must compulsorily apply afresh through Form-19. A meeting was held with officials at the commissioner’s chamber in the GMC head office on Tuesday to review the registration of MLC voters and arrangements for the local body elections.
Speaking on the occasion, he said eligible teachers should submit their applications along with the relevant service certificate by November 6. After scrutiny of the applications, the draft electoral roll will be published on November 25, and claims and objections will be accepted from November 25 to December 10. After resolving all the claims and objections, the final electoral roll will be officially published on December 30.
He directed the deputy commissioners to make necessary arrangements for voter registration within the limits of Guntur Municipal Corporation in coordination with Education Department officials.
Later, while reviewing arrangements for the local body elections, the commissioner directed the deputy commissioners and additional commissioner to take immediate steps for the appointment of Zonal Officers, Model Code of Conduct teams and polling personnel.
He instructed the Superintending Engineer (SE) to call for tenders for supplying all the material required for conducting the elections and to submit a report on the basic amenities at polling stations. He directed the city planner to prepare maps of the locations identified for setting up the distribution centre. He stressed on coordination among officials and departments for the smooth conduct of elections and instructed everyone to discharge their assigned duties with dedication.
Additional Commissioner I Kishore, deputy commissioners G Sambasiva Rao, B Srinivasa Rao and Ch Srinivas, City Planner Rambabu and SE G Venkateswara Rao were present.
