Guntur: Telugu Desam Party high command has finalised the candidature of AP Mahila Commission chairperson Dr Rayapati Sailaja for Guntur mayoral post to contest in the ensuing GMC elections.
According to the party sources, she will meet Governor S Abdul Nazeer and submit her resignation. She is scheduled to file her nomination on Sunday (October 18).
Meanwhile, former MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, his brother and former MLC Dr Rayapati Srinivas and TDP leaders are making arrangements to set up her election office and to launch an election campaign.
