The YSR Congress Party urged the AP State Election Commission to take immediate action against the continued display of TDP flex banners, hoardings and cutouts across the State in violation of the Model Code of Conduct for local body elections.
In a letter to the Commission, YSRCP MLC Lella Appi Reddy alleged that publicity material featuring Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Minister Nara Lokesh and other TDP leaders continued to be displayed despite the enforcement of the poll code. He alleged that municipal, panchayat and revenue officials were turning a blind eye to the violations.
He alleged that TDP leaders were erecting publicity material to impress their leadership and demonstrate their political influence ahead of the elections.
He said the inaction of officials raised serious concerns about the impartial enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct.
He urged the SEC to direct district collectors and District Election Authorities to immediately remove all publicity material violating the poll code, prevent fresh unauthorised installations and initiate action against those responsible. He called for uniform enforcement of the poll code to ensure a level playing field for all political parties.
