Alert issued to Musi river catchment area amid expected floods due to inflows

The irrigation department officials have issued an urgent warning to residents in the Musi Project catchment area as the heavy floods inflows into Musi Project have resumed.

The current water level has reached 640.58 feet against the Full Reservoir Level (FRL) of 645 feet with 3.35 TMC of water is currently available against the total capacity of 4.46 TMC.

The inflow over the past 24 hours due to upstream rains is recorded at 1,150 cusecs and is likely to increase further in the coming hours. The Musi Project gates could be lifted at any moment if the water flow intensifies.

The Irrigation Department officials urged the public not to venture into the river or try to cross streams and rivulets. The residents of various mandals and villages in Suryapet and Nalgonda districts are apepaled to remain on high alert. Alert issued for 20 villages—including Ratnapuram, Anantharam, and Chintakuntla—across Suryapet, Penpahad, and Palakeedu mandals.

Warnings issued for 21 villages—including Bheemaram, Amanagal, and Vadapalli—across Kethepally, Madugulapally, and Miryalaguda mandals. The Irrigation Executive Engineer (EE) has directed residents in downstream areas to follow official instructions and stay in safe locations.
