Amit Shah to visit Telangana on Oct 4

Hyderabad: Union Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Telangana on October 4 for two programmes.

According to party sources, Shah's schedule has been blocked for the visit, and he is expected to take part in two events: one in Karimnagar and another in Medak. Earlier, Shah was scheduled to attend an event related to Pratima College, Karimnagar. He is likely to take part in it during this visit. Similarly, he is expected to take part in another programme related to Amul Dairy in Medak district.

While Shah's official itinerary is yet to be finalised, Medak Member of Parliament M Raghunandan Rao met with the party leadership on Monday to plan preparations for the Union Home Minister's visit to the constituency.

Speaking to The Hans India, party sources said that Shah is also likely to address a public meeting.

He will also meet with the newly formed state leadership to take stock of the political developments and the party’s functioning in the backdrop of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and ensuing civic body elections.

During a review meeting in the national capital, the party president Nitin Nabin, after his visit to Telangana, had given a direction to the state leadership to adopt the “Sadak Se Sadan Tak” policy to capitalise on the discontent brewing against the Congress-led government in the state in the wake of its failure to deliver on its electoral promises.

Against this backdrop, and with Telangana being identified as the ‘Mission Mode’ state to step up party activities, comes the Shah’s visit.

Earlier, state BJP chief N Ramachender Rao said Shah’s visit was on the cards, as the party’s national leadership is focused on the state to bring the party to power after West Bengal.

When contacted, a senior party functionary privy to both Telangana and Karnataka party affairs said that both Telangana and Karnataka are crucial for the party.

“The party is leading its activities from the forefront, taking on the Congress-led government in that state. However, the national leadership wanted to step up party activities in Telangana on par with Karnataka,” he added.
