Bandlaguda RTO faces corruption probe after viral video

Hyderabad: The Transport Department has suspended a transport constable and removed two high-ranking motor vehicle officials from the Bandlaguda Regional Transport Office in the South Zone over corruption allegations. Transport Commissioner K Ilambarithi on Monday issued suspension orders to Constable Arun and ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident. The disciplinary action followed the widespread circulation of a video on social media, which purportedly exposed an illicit cash collection system operating inside the government facility. The secretly recorded clip showed Arun inside the licence issuance section counting bundles of currency notes.

The department also removed Bandlaguda Regional Transport Officer Ram Chander and Motor Vehicle Inspector Bheem Singh from their responsibilities, attaching them to the Transport Department headquarters. Officials stated the inquiry will establish the circumstances under which cash was counted and determine if departmental rules were violated. Following the viral clip, the Anti-Corruption Bureau conducted a surprise inspection and raid at the office premises to investigate further. Meanwhile, the Transport Department issued strict directives to all regional offices across Telangana, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy against unauthorised agents entering government compounds and warning that respective officers will be held personally liable if unauthorized individuals operate within premises.
