Hyderabad: The Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) representatives on Sunday urged Hyderabad City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar to conduct an inquiry and initiate action against police personnel who allegedly behaved in a high-handed manner with Samithi Vice President Govind Rathi at Sultan Bazaar.
The Samithi leaders alleged that police personnel pushed Rathi and used lathis against devotees participating in the Agaman procession. A delegation led by BGUS President G Raghava Reddy and General Secretary Ravinuthala Shashidhar met Commissioner Sajjanar at the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Office. They discussed arrangements for the 47th Grand Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav, scheduled from September 14 to 25, and sought coordination between the police and organisers for peaceful celebrations.
The delegation also raised the September 4 incident involving Rathi during the Agaman procession from Rock Star Ganesh at Putlibowli to Ramkote. It requested an impartial inquiry and examination of relevant CCTV and video footage, with action based on the facts.
The Samithi leaders expressed confidence that the Hyderabad Police would extend cooperation and take appropriate action.
Several Samithi leaders, including Karodimal Narsingpuria, Ramaraju, Vaikuntam, Aruna Jyothi, Ale Bhaskar and Mahendar, were present.
