- Launch of central kitchens across TG on Dec 9

Representatives of Junna Solar Systems and Chain Labs India sign agreements with Hare Krishna Foundation to implement breakfast scheme for students in government schools, in the presence of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad on Friday
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced that all central kitchens, meant to support the state’s breakfast scheme for government school students, will be inaugurated at one go across Telangana on December 9.
For the unversed, the state’s breakfast scheme targets students from pre-primary up to Class XII (including government junior colleges) to curb classroom hunger and reduce dropouts. The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with organisations like the Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation, alongside corporate support for modern centralised kitchens.
The menu will have rotating items, including dosa, chapathi, puri, millet idli, millet upma, pongal, and bonda. Students will also receive milk for three days a week and ragi malt (ragi jawa) on the other three days.
Kitchens will be linked directly to the Integrated Command and Control Centre in Hyderabad for live tracking. Digital records will be maintained to monitor student nutrition and calorific intake.
Instructing the officials concerned to complete the works at all central kitchens by November 30, the Chief Minister said that measures should be taken to facilitate student visits to the central kitchens. On Friday, representatives of the Hare Krishna Foundation met the Chief Minister at his Jubilee Hills residence.
During the meeting, Junna Solar Systems Private Limited and Chain Labs India Private Limited signed an agreement with the Hare Krishna Foundation, in the presence of the Chief Minister, to support the breakfast scheme for government school students.
Speaking on the occasion, Revanth Reddy emphasised that quality food should be served to the students. The main objective of serving breakfast is to provide nutritious food and encourage students to pursue their studies regularly in the schools.
The Chief Minister suggested that officials should maintain records pertaining to students studying in government schools. The records must help ascertain the main aspects of the students' physical growth and academic progress regularly. An App should also be developed to calculate the calorific intake from the food items served to students, he added.
The Chief Minister enquired from the authorities the details of breakfast menu and recommended that breakfast should be prepared keeping in view regional dietary habits. The breakfast scheme in the schools is a long-term programme; and hence, executed with utmost care, he underlined.
The two companies collaborated to establish modern centralised community kitchens in Nagarkurnool and Vikarabad.
