Cabinet reshuffle buzz: TPCC chief pitches major changes

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud stated on Tuesday that he had suggested a complete portfolio reshuffle for all existing ministers to the Congress High Command amid discussions surrounding a state cabinet expansion. Speaking during an informal media interaction in Hyderabad, Goud clarified that his role remains advisory, with final decisions on portfolio allocation and filling two cabinet vacancies resting entirely with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and central leadership as the administration approaches its three-year mark.

Regarding his potential induction into the cabinet, Goud affirmed he had left the matter to party leadership, reiterating that he had not sought a ministerial birth nor had anyone approached him. He emphasized his commitment to discharging his responsibilities as state party chief. On political developments, Goud criticized BRS MLC Thatha Madhu over alleged remarks against Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, accusing opposition leader K Chandrashekar Rao of failing to condemn insults against a Dalit Speaker. Highlighting Congress efforts, Goud stated that the ruling party prioritizes Dalit representation and social consciousness under Revanth Reddy, whereas the previous BRS regime lacked female cabinet ministers for a decade.

Turning to internal party matters, Goud revealed that he advised Minister Konda Surekha to lay a recent controversial issue to rest. On legislative matters, he noted Chief Minister Revanth Reddy plan to review and amend Section 22-A land regulations. Addressing upcoming Graduate MLC elections, Goud announced that screening is complete, with four prospective names shortlisted for the Khammam-Nalgonda-Warangal seat and another four for Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar, supervised by Damodara Raja Narasimha. He expressed confidence that candidates would be finalized within two to three days, while reaffirming the collective party desire to see Rahul Gandhi become Prime Minister.
