CBI books top NHAI official for amassing illegal assets

Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation Hyderabad unit registered a case against National Highways Authority of India Project Director, Warangal, Golla Durga Prasad for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. CBI anti-corruption officials conducted searches across the accused officer’s residences and related premises in Hyderabad and Warangal. According to the investigating agency, Durga Prasad accumulated vast assets in his name and his family members’ names while serving as Project Director of the Project Implementation Unit in Warangal between 20 August 2024 and 19 August 2025.

Investigating officers revealed that Durga Prasad joined the Central Road Research Institute as a scientist in 2016 before joining NHAI as Deputy General Manager Technical on deputation at headquarters on 16 September 2022. He subsequently served as Project Director at Khammam PIU from 24 April 2023 to 19 August 2024, before taking charge as Warangal Project Director from 20 August 2024 to 19 August 2025. During his Warangal tenure, Durga Prasad acquired the majority of immovable properties registered in his name and that of his wife Kolukuri Pravalika.

During raids, the central agency unearthed substantial assets, including 4.5 acres of agricultural land at Potlapalli village in Husnabad mandal, Siddipet district, purchased in Pravalika’s name for Rs 1475956. Officers also identified six acres of agricultural land in Ankushapur village, Tharigoppula mandal, Jangaon district, bought in Durga Prasad’s name for Rs 10150000, along with agricultural land at Solipur village in the same mandal worth Rs 224910.

Additionally, bank account balances uncovered by investigators included Rs 220089 in Durga Prasad’s State Bank of India salary account at Padmarao Nagar in Secunderabad, Rs 262551 in his ICICI bank account, and Rs 100000 in Pravalika’s bank accounts situated in Sangareddy.
