Telangana Government Anti Corruption Bureau
Hyderabad: In two separate sting operations, Anti Corruption Bureau officials arrested four individuals, including Keesara revenue officers and a TGSPDCL assistant engineer, on bribery charges on Thursday.
In the first case, a Deputy Tahsildar and a Village Revenue Officer from Keesara mandal in Medchal-Malkajgiri district were caught demanding a Rs 5 lakh bribe to remove agricultural properties belonging to a complainant's family from the prohibited list.
Deputy Tahsildar Amanaganti Sandeep Kumar Reddy demanded Rs 5 lakh and accepted an initial instalment of Rs 2.5 lakh through a private individual, Kavali Balakrishna. The bribe was sought for processing the removal of agricultural land registered in the names of the complainant's mother and relatives from the prohibited list under Section 22-A of the Registration Act, 1908.
ACB officials stated that VRO Nannuri Vijay Kumar Reddy influenced Balakrishna to receive the bribe on the Deputy Tahsildar's instructions.
In the second case, an assistant engineer of the Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited was caught red-handed while accepting a Rs 1.20 lakh bribe for doing an official favour.
The officer, Pandala Sandhaya Rakesh, working in the Madannapet section under Santosh Nagar sub-division, demanded the money from a complainant to approve an application for installing six new electricity meters in place of old, missing units.
In both cases, ACB officials arrested the accused and prepared to produce them before the special court for judicial remand. Agency officials recovered the bribe money from the accused officers, and chemical tests conducted on the suspects yielded positive results.
