Gandipet water conduit repair works progressing full throttle
Hyderabad: Repair works on the century-old stone conduit supplying drinking water from Gandipet to Hyderabad are progressing rapidly as the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board works to complete the task ahead of schedule.
The Water Board announced a 36-hour shutdown from Tuesday 6 am to Wednesday 6 pm to rectify leakages identified at Sabza Colony, Tolichowki, and Manikonda. Repairs on the 20 MGD capacity conduit aim to prevent water loss and restore normal supply quickly.
HMWSSB Managing Director K Ashok Reddy instructed officials to take special precautions considering the historical nature of the stone structure, emphasizing high quality standards to prevent future leaks.
He directed officials to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply through tankers in affected areas, urging the Transmission and Operations departments to coordinate continuously.
