Hyd Voters allege wrongful deletions, demand restoration
Hyderabad: Thousands of residents across Hyderabad district have alleged irregularities in the voter enumeration process, claiming that their names were deleted from the electoral rolls despite submitting the required forms and providing relevant details. Many affected voters demanded that their names be restored.
Residents alleged that some eligible voters were wrongly marked as deceased, while others were classified as untraceable or non-local without proper verification. Some also claimed that officials reported them as unavailable at their residences without conducting proper verification. As an estimate, nearly 19.41 lakh votes were deleted in Hyderabad district, leaving numerous residents struggling to understand why their names had been removed from the electoral rolls.
Naresh, a resident of Indira Nagar area in Bholakpur division in Musheerabad constituency, said four votes belonging to his family, including his own, had been deleted despite the family having lived in its own house for the past 40 years.
“We obtained the enumeration forms ourselves, filled in all the details and repeatedly contacted our BLO. We called him more than 20 times before the deadline, but he did not respond.
