Telangana Dy CM Bhatti Vikramarka announces measures for Singareni workers
Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday has announced welfare measures for Singareni workers, including faster compassionate appointments and housing plots.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, he said the company employs 38,738 permanent workers and 29,715 contract workers. The compassionate appointment process would be completed within 15 days, he said, with a resolution to discrepancies involving workers’ “alias names” also expected within that period.
Medical invalidation assessments will be available at Singareni area hospitals, ending the need for workers to travel to Kothagudem. Workers dismissed for failing to report during the Covid-19 pandemic will also be offered a one-time opportunity to return to work.
Under GO 76, eligible workers occupying Singareni land will receive title deeds for housing plots on 1,250 acres. Bhatti said housing colonies would also be built and handed over to workers, with the project to be named Nehru Housing Colony.
He added that area hospitals would be upgraded to corporate-hospital standards, specialist doctors’ services would be arranged and free cancer screening would be provided in Singareni regions.
