HYDRAA deploys 234 swimmers, 51 DRF teams across water bodies

Hyderabad: Ahead of the grand Ganesh immersion procession scheduled for Friday, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency stepped up safety arrangements across the city to ensure smooth operations.

HYDRAA deployed 234 trained swimmers and pressed 51 Disaster Response Force teams into service at major immersion points, including Hussainsagar and various water bodies across the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation limits. At Hussainsagar, 150 swimmers are stationed across three shifts, maintaining 50 personnel per shift, while 84 swimmers are deployed at high-volume sites in Cyberabad.

Special measures were implemented at IDL Lake in Kukatpally, where despite ongoing development work, officials increased water depth to 25 feet to facilitate large idol immersions.

While several idols were immersed earlier following ritual completions, major immersion activity will occur on Friday. HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath affirmed that the agency is working in close coordination with government departments to ensure peaceful execution.

The strategic deployment of swimmers and DRF units aims to ensure rapid response during potential emergencies, while officials continuously monitor key locations to prevent difficulties for devotees.
