Muslims visit churches, express solidarity
Expressing solidarity with Christian community, in the wake of recent suicide bombings in Sri Lanka, members of Muslim community, including ex-servicemen, alumni of the mission schools and student organisations, visited 165-year-old Saint Joseph's church and Saint George's Church and distribute flowers.

Mirza Yawar Baig, Imam Mahmood Habeeb Masjid of Islamic Centre and MS Katherine B Hadda, US Consul General, addressed the congregation at Saint George's church. The motto of the visit was 'terrorists have no religion.' "We all condemn their acts and promote universal brotherhood among all the citizens and we extend our sympathies with the families of those who were martyred in Sri Lanka and pray for them," said the visitors.
The US consul general later tweeted, "Humbled to be part of a beautiful #Hyderabad moment Muslim faithful, creating a cordon of love and support, guided Christian followers to their church a week after the horrible Sri Lanka Easter attacks. Familiarity breeds not contempt, but understanding and compassion."
Dr Md Iqbal Jaweed of All Saints Old Boys said that Muslims from different walks of life who wanted to express solidarity and condemn all forms of terrorism gathered at Saint Joseph's church at Gun foundry, which has All Saints and the Rosary convent schools on either side. "About 150 people, men women and children, distributed flowers and dates," he said
On the occasion, the youth from Students Islamic Organisations (SIO) formed human chain around the churches in Hyderabad and greeted devotees with flowers and cakes. Fatir Hassan, city president SIO Hyderabad, addressing the visitors and Media, condemned the deadly attack and said, "These attacks aim to instil fear and break us, but today we want to say it loud and clear that we are together and will always stand together in all the times sharing love and brotherhood."
