NGO trains women to be self-reliant
To provide an independent life and a platform to earn livelihood to the marginalised women.
Hyderabad: To provide an independent life and a platform to earn livelihood to the marginalised women. An NGO, Society for Helping Integrity Network for Empowerment(SHINE) has taken initiative to provide vocational training in various fields and also gives an earning opportunity for women by making sanitary napkins.
The organisation offers tailoring, beautician and computer courses for women. Parameshwari, founder of the organization took up the initiative to make women self-reliant by providing training and also giving the marginalised women a platform to earn money.
The women make handmade sanitary pads out of the wood pulp and napkins are donated to government schools. The NGO is also working on no plastic mission where they are creating awareness of hazards of plastic and also encouraging people to use eco-friendly products like cloth bags, and jute bags.
Speaking to The Hans India, Parameshwari said, "As I have seen how my mother worked hard for our living. In a very early age, I had lost my father and also faced many ups and downs in life and realised like me there are many women who suffered same as me. So I started this NGO at LB Nagar. The main focus of our foundation is to give recognition to the women in society".
Till now, the NGO has trained 5,000 members in tailoring, 3,000 in beautician courses, 4,000 in compute diploma courses. That the Central Government recognised our work and honored us with the Swabhiman Excellence Award in 2018.
The NGO is run by crowdfunding and also various government organization, MNC, are supporting to run these NGO, added Parameshwari. Kavitha, who also got self-employed says, "Getting training from this NGO is an achievement for me. This NGO has given me recognition. Earlier, I struggled to earn for the livelihood but today I own my own tailoring shop at Patelguda."
