Hyderabad: Revenue, Housing, and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the state government was restructuring the revenue system to ensure transparent public services, safeguard farmers’ legal land rights and provide permanent solutions to long-pending land disputes.

He alleged that negligence, mismanagement and improper decisions during the previous decade had weakened the revenue system. Under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s guidance, the present government was strengthening the department and making its services more accessible to the public.

On Monday, Ponguleti chaired a review meeting with senior Revenue Department officials at the Secretariat. The meeting reviewed the implementation of the Bhu-Bharati Act, distribution of pattadar passbooks, statewide land resurvey operations and progress in resolving land disputes. He directed officials to improve field-level performance and deliver services transparently and promptly.

The minister said the Bhu-Bharati Act, which came into force on April 14, 2025, aimed to create a Telangana free from land disputes. Since its implementation, 568,858 pattadar passbooks have been issued. Including 671,508 distributed earlier, the total stands at 1,240,366, or approximately 12.40 lakh.

He said the resurvey programme was helping resolve decades-old disputes and identify farmers whose cultivation or ownership rights were missing from official records, preventing them from accessing government welfare schemes.

In Narayanapuram revenue village of Kesamudram mandal in Mahabubabad district, a resurvey helped resolve land issues affecting tribal and non-tribal communities, granting formal land rights to 906 farmers across more than 1,600 acres. Similarly, a resurvey covering 15 villages in Nutanakal and Maddirala mandals of Suryapet district resulted in title deeds being issued to 2,400 farmers for 3,450 acres.

Pattadar passbooks and title deeds will enable eligible farmers to access bank loans, Rythu Bharosa benefits and other government welfare schemes, he said.

Resurvey operations are progressing in Mulakalapalli mandal of Mulugu district; Palwancha, Aswaraopeta and Dammapeta mandals of Bhadradri Kothagudem district; and Sathupally mandal of Khammam district. Ponguleti directed officials to extend similar surveys to other areas and ensure eligible landowners receive proper documentation.

He stressed that government decisions would benefit the public only through effective field-level implementation. The meeting also discussed a proposed food park in Jangaon district.

Revenue Department Secretary DS Lokesh Kumar, Inspector General of Stamps and Registration Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu, Jangaon District Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha and other officials attended.
