SC Ruling On Defections: Verdict a rebuke to Cong, BRS defection-engg culture: TG BJP

BJP leaders have praised the Supreme Court decision to uphold the Telangana High Court order disqualifying Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, terming it a triumph for democracy and constitutional values. Strongly criticizing both Congress and BRS, BJP state leaders accused both parties of systematically undermining the public mandate. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy highlighted the significance of the ruling dismissing Nagender plea and clearing the path for a by-election. He asserted that the verdict serves as a stern lesson to Congress and BRS, both of which have actively fostered a culture of unlawful defections in Telangana by inducting opposition MLAs and awarding them ministerial portfolios. Exposing their political hypocrisy, Kishan Reddy noted that both parties routinely condemn defections while in opposition but actively encourage them when occupying power.

Echoing similar sentiments, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar remarked that leaders of both Congress and BRS should hang their heads in shame following the Supreme Court judgment. Questioning their political ethics, Sanjay Kumar criticized the opportunistic culture of floor-crossing and expressed surprise that both rival parties attempted to claim credit for the judicial outcome. He urged voters to respond democratically in the upcoming Khairatabad by-election to uphold moral standards in public life.

BJP State President N Ramachander Rao hailed the apex court ruling as a historic victory, attributing the outcome to the uncompromising legal battle waged by the BJP Legislative Party.
