Hyderabad: BJP Legislature Party Floor Leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy said the party’s Maha Dharna against the inclusion of farmers’ lands in the Section 22A prohibited list under Bhu Bharati, scheduled for Saturday, was only the beginning of a larger struggle.

Reviewing preparations along with Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender on Friday, Reddy said BJP State president N Ramachander Rao, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, BJP Parliamentary Board member and MP Dr K Laxman, BJP Legislative Council Floor Leader AVN Reddy and Etala Rajender would participate in the protest.

He said the BJP stood with farmers and people whose lands had been “arbitrarily” included in the prohibited list, causing hardships under the Congress government led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Victims of Section 22A would participate in large numbers, he added.

Etala Rajender alleged that people were living in fear during the Revanth Reddy government.

He claimed the prohibited list had increased from 16 lakh acres to 80 lakh acres, with apartments, colonies and long-cultivated lands included without notice.

He said BJP MPs, MLCs and MLAs would observe a fast from 10 am on Saturday. “The fast is only a warning,” Rajender said, adding that the struggle would continue until people’s lands were removed from Section 22A.
