Secunderabad Central Railway freight handling crosses 10,000 cr

Secunderabad: The Secunderabad Central Railway (SCR) zone registered a highest ever freight loading of 122.5 million tonnes during the 2018-19 financial year, which is up by 19% over the previous year.

Earnings from freight transportation have crossed Rs 10,000 crore for the first time, said Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR. He was speaking at the 64th Railway Week Celebrations here on Monday.

In terms of passenger traffic, the SCR zone has carried 383 million of originating passengers, which is an increase of 4 million passengers when compared to the previous year. The zone has recorded remarkable performance with originating earnings of Rs 15,640 crore, which is a significant 15% increase over the previous financial year.
