Shifting of Ayurvedic hospital opposed
The CPI city council on Wednesday opposed the shifting of the Government Ayurvedic Hospital here to BRKR Government Ayurvedic College in Erragadda ‘on pretext of carrying out repairs’.

Council secretary I T Narsimha demanded dropping of the proposal to locate the hospital in the college permanently, as the institution had been meeting for decades the needs of residents of the Old City and on the outskirts.
The CPI leader pointed out that the hospital was treating poor patients suffering from serious ailments like paralysis, and that shifting it would amount to doing injustice to them.
He said if the government was really committed to meeting the needs of the Old City residents it should take an alternative building nearby, rather than shifting the hospital to Erragadda. He threatened to launch a people's agitation to stop it if the department officials did not drop the proposal.
