KTR releases a report detailing how TRS govt spent ` 67,149 cr on city in last six years
Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister and TRS working president KT Rama Rao on Friday stated out that a multi-pronged integrated approach was adopted by the TRS government to transform Hyderabad into a 'truly global, liveable and loveable city.'
Development projects worth Rs 67,149.23 crore were taken up during the last six years, he stated, while releasing a report on various development works and the outlay for them.
KTR said the government incurred an expenditure of over Rs 17,290 crore on the Hyderabad Metro Rail, which has three corridors covering 72 km with 66 stations. It also spent Rs 14,738 crore for road infrastructure with Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), Model Road corridors and Link Roads (HRDCL), Comprehensive Road Maintenance Program (CRMP).
The minister stated that Rs 8,410 crore was expended under SRDP alone by constructing nine flyovers, four underpasses, three road over bridges, a cable bridge at Durgam Cheruvu. He said the government spent Rs 313 crore on model road corridors and the link roads to decrease the load on main roads.
The report said that during Covid-19, the government took up Rs 2,000 crore worth works. An amount of Rs 3,309 crore was incurred on the Outer Ring Road since 2014. All the 19 locations were integrated with the automatic toll collection system, illuminating a 24-km stretch of ORR. "Works are in progress for the remaining stretch of 134 km on the main carriageway and service roads".
According to the report, the government spent over Rs 14,175 crore for drinking water and sewage. About 4,272 km of water pipeline was completed since 2014. It commissioned phase III of the Godavari and Krishna, constructed 230 storage reservoirs of 400 ml capacity in peripheral circles and ORR villages and set up treatment plants.
The government expended over Rs 2,374 crore to provide 24-hour uninterrupted power. The report said from the power holiday scenario, the government attracted new industrial investments. According to the report, the government incurred an expenditure of Rs 1,940 crore for modernisation of Hyderabad police.
It ushered in initiatives like ultra modern command control centre, new vehicles for patrolling, CCTV cameras etc. The minister said the government was spending Rs 9,700 crore for the double bedroom housing scheme, which is one of the biggest affordable housing projects in the country. One lakh houses were constructed in 111 locations in and around Hyderabad. "The 2 BHK project at Kollur is India's biggest colony project in 124 acres with 15,660 units", KTR pointed out.
The report said that over Rs 1,716 crore was incurred for the Swachh Hyderabad to procure Swachh tippers, waste to energy plant, capping of Jawaharnagar dump yard, 3,000 public toilets. The government also spent Rs 15 crore to set up a disaster response force.
To increase the green cover in Hyderabad, the government expended over Rs 332 crore for Green Hyderabad, parks and recreation places. The report mentioned several initiatives like promoting Brand Hyderabad, T-Hub, women's safety, basti dawakhanas, Annapurna canteens, bus shelters, sports facilities, vaikunta dhamams, tourism development, reviving heritage.
