TPUS seeks government intervention on HRA issue
Karimnagar: Leaders of the Telangana Prantha Upadhyaya Sangham (TPUS) met Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Tuesday and urged him to expedite the implementation of 17 per cent House Rent Allowance (HRA) for employees working in 23 villages within an eight-kilometre radius of Karimnagar Municipal Corporation.
The demand follows the expansion of the municipal corporation in 2025. TPUS representatives said they had submitted a representation to the District Collector through the Union Minister in September 2025. Subsequently, the then Collector directed officials from the Panchayat Raj and Roads and Buildings departments, along with the Municipal Commissioner, to survey the villages and submit distance certificates and maps. The required documents were reportedly collected and submitted, but the orders are still awaited. TPUS leaders said the process had been delayed following instructions from the State Finance Department concerning the authority of District Collectors to approve HRA revisions without directions from the State Government.
Karimnagar Mayor Kolagani Srinivas, 50th Division Corporator Boinpally Praveen Rao, TPUS district president Annamaneni Thirupathi Rao and mandal president Burra Nagaraju were part of the delegation.
Bandi Sanjay Kumar assured the delegation that he would write to the State Finance Department and discuss the issue with the State Finance Minister to expedite a decision. The TPUS district unit thanked him for his support.
