District Collector Divakara TS
Khammam: “The district aims to increase its per capita income to Rs 5 lakh by 2028 and Rs 10 lakh by 2033 as part of a comprehensive development plan aligned with Telangana’s Vision 2047,” District Collector Divakara TS said on Friday.
“The state government has selected Khammam as a pilot district for preparing an integrated development plan, in line with its ambition of transforming Telangana into a USD 3 trillion economy by 2047,” the Collector said during a meeting with district officials.
“Khammam currently has a population of around 14.3 lakh and five lakh households, with annual economic activity estimated at Rs 52,000 crore. The district accounts for 2.9 per cent of the state’s gross domestic product, while its per capita income stands at approximately Rs 3.3 lakh,” he said.Emphasising agriculture and allied sectors, the Collector called for increasing farm productivity, promoting value-added agricultural products and establishing food-processing units to improve farmers’ incomes. Officials were also asked to address irrigation gaps and ensure water reaches the tail-end areas of irrigation projects. He stressed the need to strengthen women’s self-help groups, expand tourism, improve road connectivity, promote solar energy and develop Khammam’s potential as a logistics hub. Eight to 10 specialised teams will be formed to prepare sector-specific development plans. Each team has been asked to present its findings, targets and short-term and long-term strategies next Thursday.
