Release pending stipend of Medco doctors: CITU

Gadwal: CITU district president secretaries Upper Narasimha and VV Narasimha demanded the immediate release of the pending stipend for Medco doctors across the state. On Saturday, they expressed support for the doctors who are fighting for the pending stipend at the local government hospital in the district headquarters. Addressing the media, they said that it is not right to keep the stipend to be given to doctors who have completed MBBS for five years abroad and have also passed the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) exam in their own country pending for months.
They said that it is unfair that the State government, which is supposed to give a stipend of Rs 29,792 per month for one year of internship, is giving them only Rs 5,000 per month for the last three years.
He expressed concern that doctors are facing serious difficulties due to non-grant of even the Rs 5,000 stipend given since last year. He said that the policies followed by the governments towards doctors are not right. He questioned why the Central government is also limited to slogans about the country and why it is not implementing a uniform stipend policy for everyone across the country.
He urged the people, trade unions, social and public organizations and political parties to voluntarily move and support the struggle being waged by the doctors.
