All 1,917 water samples clear rigorous quality tests at Kurnool rlystation

Kurnool: The South Central Railway (SCR) has intensified monitoring of drinking water quality at Kurnool City Railway Station and neighboring railway colonies to guarantee safe and hygienic water supplies for passengers, employees, and residents.

As part of this proactive drive, the Hyderabad Division conducted extensive inspections and water quality tests between September 1 and 26, confirming that all 1,917 water samplescollected during the period were satisfactory and fit for drinking. The comprehensive monitoring framework covered groundwater sources, municipal supplies, storage facilities, chlorination systems, and distribution networks. Officials conducted daily checks on residual chlorine levels and performed regular bacteriological tests to detect harmful contaminants like E. coli bacteria. Out of the total samples, 315 underwent rigorous bacteriological examination, with none testing positive for contamination. Additionally, 17 samples subjected to detailed chemical analysis were declared safe for consumption.

To maintain these high standards, engineering and medical department officials jointly executed 94 inspections at drinking water sources, ground-level reservoirs (GLRs), and high-level reservoirs (HLRs).

SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava instructed officials to maintain strict vigilance, ensuring that all supplies strictly comply with the Indian Railways Medical Manual.

Authorities reaffirmed that frequent testing and maintenance will continue across the zone to guarantee a consistent supply of clean water.
