Kurnool: Ganesh idol immersion was conducted peacefully and on a grand note in Kurnool city on Tuesday, with thousands of devotees bidding a traditional farewell to Lord Vinayaka amid deep devotional fervor and festive celebrations. Nearly 2,000 idols were immersed at the Vinayak Ghat on the KC Canal, alongside designated ghats near the HNSS Nannur tollgate and Ulindakonda. Elaborate arrangements made by police and municipal authorities ensured smooth proceedings without any untoward incidents.
The Vinayaka Shobha Yatra proceeded to the KC Canal ghat following traditional rituals, accompanied by decorated vehicles carrying idols. Devotees and Utsava committee members raised devotional slogans, while cultural programmes at Vinayak Ghat attracted large crowds. District SP Vikrant Patil stated that nearly 2,000 police personnel—including two Additional SPs, 16 DSPs, 85 CIs and RIs, and 150 SIs—were deployed for bandobust. Drones, CCTV cameras, and bomb disposal squads maintained strict security, while traffic diversions and DJ restrictions prevented congestion.
Kurnool Municipal Commissioner Challa Obulesu noted that 15 cranes were positioned across immersion points, supported by barricading, lighting, sanitation, and drinking water facilities. Maintained water depths at the KC Canal facilitated safe immersions. The combined efforts of police, municipal staff, and volunteers guaranteed a successful conclusion to the festival.
