Kurnool yoga association pushes for regular coaching appointments

Kurnool: Kurnool District Yoga Association President Avinash Shetty has strongly criticized the continuation of a retired yoga coach at the District Sports Authority, questioning how a retired individual remains retained despite a reported decision by the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) board.

Speaking on Monday, he questioned the rationale of keeping a retired instructor instead of appointing a regular coach to train district players.

Shetty alleged that during the tenure of yoga coach Satyanarayana, insufficient efforts were made to identify and groom talented youngsters, resulting in a failure to produce athletes capable of representing the district at State and national levels.

He emphasized the urgent need for a regular instructor to impart systematic training and promote yoga as a competitive sport.

To rectify the situation, Shetty urged authorities to appoint a qualified regular coach and implement concrete measures for regional yoga development.

He formally lodged a complaint through the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) with Kurnool Joint Collector Noorul Qamar on Monday, seeking immediate intervention.

According to Shetty, the Joint Collector responded promptly by summoning District Sports Development Officer (DSDO) Bhupathi Rao to inquire about the matter.

The Joint Collector directed the DSDO to examine the issue thoroughly and resolve it at the earliest, ensuring aspiring yoga players receive the professional guidance they deserve.
