Nandyal: The nomination process for municipal elections concluded peacefully across all six municipalities in Nandyal district on Monday.

To guarantee a free, fair, and secure electoral environment, the police department has significantly intensified security arrangements under the direction of district in-charge SP Vikrant Patil, with Additional SP (Administration) S Khader Basha directly overseeing operations.

Authorities have identified a total of 511 polling stations across the district, categorized into 88 highly sensitive, 159 sensitive, and 264 normal locations. Comprehensive security audits and site inspections are underway.

Furthermore, eight strategic check-posts have been established across the district to conduct round-the-clock vehicle inspections to intercept the illegal transportation of cash and prohibited items. As part of strict preventive actions, police have bound over 2,333 persons before competent authorities to forestall any electoral disturbance. The bound-over list comprises 904 rowdy-sheeters, 18 habitual offenders, 349 suspects, 39 dossier criminals, and 1,023 potential troublemakers. Additionally, 803 licensed firearms have been deposited at respective police stations as an essential precaution to uphold public safety and order.

The district police administration reiterated that severe legal consequences will be invoked against anyone attempting to compromise public peace or interfere with the polling process.

Authorities have made a strong public appeal for community cooperation to ensure transparent and peaceful municipal elections throughout Nandyal.
