Nellore: The political feud between former YSRCP leader Poluboyina Anil Kumar Yadav and his uncle, TDP Deputy Mayor Poluboyina Roop Kumar Yadav, escalated on Sunday over allegations of illegal mining extortion involving Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy.
Addressing a press conference at the YSRCP district office in Nellore, former minister Anil Kumar Yadav alleged that mine owners in the state were being subjected to illegal collections amounting to over ₹200 crore by the Nellore MP. He pointed out that revenue from Quartz mining had dropped significantly from ₹55 crore under the previous YSRCP government to just ₹19 crore currently.
Anil Kumar claimed this sharp decline was not due to reduced demand in China, but because a syndicate led by the MP forced 48 out of 147 mine owners to halt operations after refusing to pay illegal levies. Hitting back sharply, Deputy Mayor Roop Kumar Yadav rubbished the allegations, labeling his nephew an “outdated politician” who has been sidelined from Nellore politics since his party lost power. The TDP leader stated that nobody takes Anil Kumar’s baseless claims seriously and accused him of leveling false charges against MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy solely for political mileage. Roop Kumar emphasized that Anil Kumar was unable to digest the rapid development occurring in Nellore under the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and MP Vemireddy.
He added that Anil Kumar had rendered himself politically irrelevant and that time would ultimately decide his political future.
