Delhi CM Gupta meets Satya Niketan collapse survivors at AIIMS Trauma Centre; assures kin of all help

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday visited the AIIMS Trauma Centre and met people injured in the Satya Niketan building collapse. She assured the affected families that the government would extend complete cooperation and all necessary assistance.

After meeting the injured, Gupta told reporters that one labourer admitted to the trauma centre was in stable condition and receiving treatment for serious leg injuries.

“One labourer is currently admitted here (AIIMS Trauma Centre) and is now stable. He sustained significant leg injuries, and his medical treatment is underway. In addition, regarding the students, among those currently admitted here, two students are doing well and will be discharged today,” she told reporters.

The Chief Minister said another student was undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to the severity of the injuries.

“One student is in the ICU as his injuries are more severe; his medical treatment is actively going on there. I have met with the parents as well. Considering the entire situation, we have assured the parents that the patients will receive the best possible medical care. The government will extend complete cooperation and every form of assistance,” Gupta said.

She added that the government would provide necessary financial assistance to the families of the affected students and labourers.

“Furthermore, we will also provide all necessary financial assistance to the families of the affected students and labourers. We have reassured the families, and I personally met with them,” she said.

Gupta said the families of those who lost their lives in the incident had left Delhi with the mortal remains, while the government had facilitated all necessary arrangements.

“The families whose children have tragically lost their lives have all departed from Delhi with the mortal remains of their children, and all related arrangements were handled and facilitated by the government. We remain in constant contact with all the parents. In this hour of grief and need, the government stands firmly with them,” she said.

She further said the unsafe building next to the paying guest accommodation that had collapsed had been formally declared dangerous and would be demolished.

“By tomorrow, that building will be brought down,” Gupta said.

On Monday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the state government would step up checks on buildings, strengthen safety enforcement and review regulations governing paying guest accommodations across the national Capital.
