New Delhi: A team from the Delhi Police Special Cell on Saturday reached the Vasundhara police outpost, under the jurisdiction of the Indirapuram police station in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, to investigate the cause of an explosion that took place on Friday night.

Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), dog squad, forensic experts and police teams conducted a thorough search of the area.

Ghaziabad Police Commissioner J Ravinder Goud also reached the spot.

Speaking to reporters, Goud said the police received information about an explosion near the rear wall of the Vasundhara police outpost around 9 pm on Friday. A Sub-Inspector and a delivery worker were present at the location at the time.

He said all available evidence had been collected and the Bomb Disposal Squad, field unit and forensic team were examining the site. The exact cause of the explosion was yet to be established, and investigators were examining all possible angles.

The blast triggered panic in the locality and shattered windows and damaged air-conditioning units at the police outpost. No police personnel were inside the building when the explosion occurred.

However, a 20-year-old food delivery worker, identified as Vishal, sustained injuries after glass fragments hit him. He was admitted to a private hospital in Delhi's Surya Nagar for treatment.

According to officials, Vishal, a resident of Arthala in Ghaziabad, was delivering food when the explosion occurred.

Following the incident, police personnel and specialised investigative teams rushed to the spot. Forensic experts and the bomb disposal squad were also deployed to examine the site and collect evidence.

Police said the exact nature and cause of the explosion would be established only after a detailed forensic examination and analysis of the evidence collected. The investigation is underway, and further details are awaited.
