HM Amit Shah inaugurates Barapullah Phase-III corridor in Delhi

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday inaugurated the Barapullah Phase-III elevated corridor, a key infrastructure project aimed at providing signal-free connectivity between East Delhi and South Delhi.

The inauguration was held in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, Minister Kapil Mishra and other Delhi leaders.

The Barapullah Phase-III corridor is the largest of the four projects under the Barapullah corridor network. It is designed to improve connectivity between Mayur Vihar Phase-I in East Delhi and the AIIMS area in South Delhi through an elevated, signal-free route.

The newly opened corridor will connect with the existing Barapullah elevated road at Sarai Kale Khan, completing an approximately 9-km-long continuous stretch. The project is expected to significantly ease traffic movement between East Delhi, Noida and key areas of South Delhi.

The corridor is particularly expected to benefit commuters travelling from Mayur Vihar, Noida and surrounding areas towards Sarai Kale Khan, AIIMS and other parts of South Delhi.

With the opening of the elevated corridor, commuters will be able to avoid several traffic signals and congested stretches along the route. Authorities expect the project to reduce the average travel time between East Delhi and AIIMS from around 35-40 minutes to approximately 15 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

The Barapullah corridor has been developed in phases to improve east-west connectivity across the national capital and provide alternative routes for commuters travelling towards the central and southern parts of Delhi.

The Phase-III project is expected to play a significant role in improving traffic flow in one of the national capital’s busiest corridors, particularly for commuters travelling between Delhi and Noida.

The opening of the corridor also comes as Delhi continues to expand its network of elevated roads and signal-free corridors to address congestion and reduce travel time for motorists.

With the Phase-III stretch now open to the public, commuters from East Delhi and Noida will have a more direct route to South Delhi, while the integration with the existing Barapullah corridor is expected to improve the overall efficiency of traffic movement along the route.
