86,250 SIR cases cleared in East Godavari

Rajamahendravaram: Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav on Thursday reviewed the arrangements for the final publication of electoral rolls under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and the disposal of claims and objections with District Election Officers through a video conference. East Godavari District Election Officer and collector Kirti Chekuri and In-charge DRO S Bhaskar Reddy participated in the conference from the Rajamahendravaram Collectorate.

During the meeting, Collector explained the progress of the SIR process in the district, including the issue of notices, hearings and the disposal of claims and objections. She said that hearings had been completed in 86,250 of the 86,959 cases in which notices were served, leaving only 709 cases pending. The pending cases accounted for 0.82% of the total notices issued. The collector said 469 persons had been found ineligible for inclusion in the final electoral rolls, while 81,735 cases had been cleared for final publication.

She further stated that, under the “Other” category of the electoral roll revision, details of 15,78,753 voters had been examined, of which 13,84,978 cases had been cleared for final publication.

Regarding claims and objections, the collector said the district had received 14,036 applications under Form-6, 2,492 under Form-7 and 6,537 under Form-8. Pending applications were being examined as per the prescribed rules to ensure justice to every eligible voter, she said.
