Rajamahendravaram: Sub-Collector Shubham Nokhwal on Thursday reviewed preparations for the 2027 Godavari Pushkarams, focusing on infrastructure and facilities at bathing ghats, prominent temples and tourist destinations across the division.

At a meeting at his office, the Sub-Collector discussed proposed development works, field-level requirements, and the financial and non-financial issues that must be addressed ahead of the religious event.

Pushkarams Special Deputy Collector Mahesh and tahsildars of Rajamahendravaram Urban, Rajamahendravaram Rural, Rajanagaram, Kadiyam, Seethanagaram and Korukonda mandals attended the meeting. Nokhwal sought detailed information on the existing conditions at the bathing ghats, major temples and tourist spots in their respective mandals.

He reviewed the available infrastructure, identified shortcomings and the works required to ensure that pilgrims can perform their rituals and visit important places without inconvenience during the Pushkarams.

He directed the officials to prepare a comprehensive report estimating the number of pilgrims expected in 2027, taking into account the turnout during previous Godavari Pushkarams. The report should assess the facilities required to accommodate the anticipated rush and identify the works to be taken up in advance, he said.

The Sub-Collector stressed the need to examine requirements at each ghat, including bathing facilities, approach roads, sanitation, drinking water, electricity, transport and security. He asked the tahsildars to prepare mandal-wise proposals after assessing local conditions and identifying gaps in existing infrastructure.

Officials were asked to identify both financial and non-financial constraints at the field level so that appropriate measures could be planned well before the commencement of the Pushkarams.

The meeting forms part of the preliminary exercise to assess infrastructure needs across the Rajamahendravaram division and prepare for the expected influx of devotees during the 2027 Godavari Pushkarams.
