CPM and Congress leaders demand transparent ward delimitation in Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation, urging authorities to release full boundary and voter details before local body polls.

CPM and Congress leaders submitting a representation to the Municipal Corporation Commissioner
Rajamahendraaram: CPM and Congress leaders have demanded a scientific and transparent reorganisation of the 72 divisions in the Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation, insisting that complete details be made available to political parties and the public before the process is finalised. CPM district secretary T Arun, Congress Parliament Constituency coordinator TK Visweswara Reddy and Urban district president Balepalli Muralidhar spoke to the media on Wednesday after submitting a representation to the Municipal Corporation Commissioner. They welcomed the proposed municipal elections but stressed the need for a clear and transparent procedure for delimitation of wards to avoid confusion among voters.
The leaders said that although details of the 72 divisions had been provided under the South, North, East and West zones, complete information on individual division maps, street boundaries, door numbers, voter strength and population had not been disclosed. They recalled that during earlier delimitation exercises, the authorities used to clearly specify the streets and their boundaries under each ward. The CPM had submitted its objections in writing on October 8, but the authorities had not provided the required details so far, they alleged.
They also questioned the exclusion of Konthamuru, Kolamuru and Rayudupaka villages, which are close to the city, from the proposed corporation limits, while more distant areas were being considered for merger.
