Tirupati: Families of the five workers killed in the October 3 industrial explosion at TIL Healthcare Private Limited in Sri City will receive financial assistance running into several lakhs, with the company set to release Rs 50 lakh to the nominee of each victim within the next two days.

The compensation package was explained to the bereaved families by District Collector Dr S Venkateswar during a meeting held at Sri City Business Centre on Monday evening. The Collector said the cheques towards the government and company relief would be handed over within a day or two in the presence of senior officials and representatives of the management.

The overall compensation due to each family, including benefits under workmen’s compensation policy and assistance from TIL Healthcare, has been finalised. Families of Tanniru Vasu will receive Rs 78,56,278, K. Chinna Masthan - Rs 72,72,234, Gourab Roy - Rs 76,98,345, Ramesh Nataraj - Rs 61,50,178 and B Mohan Raj - Rs 65,65,235.

Addressing the grieving relatives, Venkateswar expressed his condolences and said the loss of life was irreparable. He said the immediate financial assistance was aimed at providing some support to the dependents of the deceased workers.

Apart from the compensation, the State government has assured comprehensive rehabilitation support to the affected families. The Collector said employment opportunities would be facilitated for eligible members of the victims’ families to help them secure a source of livelihood.

The Collector also said safety measures would be strengthened across the district in the aftermath of the accident. Detailed safety inspections and audits will be carried out at industrial units, including those located in Sri City, to identify and address possible risks.

SP L Subba Rayudu conveyed his condolences to the families and said necessary measures would be taken to ensure strict adherence to worker safety norms and regulatory requirements in industrial areas.

Sri City Managing Director Dr Ravindra Sannareddy assured the families of continued support from the industrial township. He said Sri City would take up additional safety measures along with the inspections being conducted by government authorities.

Third-party private safety audits would also be carried out across industrial units to further strengthen safety standards.

TIL Healthcare President and Managing Director Kapil Jhaver also participated in the meeting. The Collector appreciated the managements of TIL Healthcare and Sri City for extending support to the families following the tragedy.
