Tirupati: The counting of votes for municipal elections across Tirupati district progressed peacefully on Tuesday under robust, multi-layered security protocols. Counting activities were conducted across designated counting centers at Sri Venkateswara Arts College in Tirupati, as well as centers in Puthur, Naidupeta, Sullurpeta, and Venkatagiri.
District Superintendent of Police (SP) L Subba Rayudu personally visited key centers, including SV Arts College and Naidupeta, to review ground-level security infrastructure and operational arrangements.
During his inspection, the SP reviewed the deployment of police personnel, crowd control measures, and perimeter security surrounding the counting halls and strong rooms holding election materials. He directed officers to maintain high security until the official declaration of results.
Issuing strict instructions to personnel on duty, SP Subba Rayudu emphasized the need for constant alertness and responsible execution of duties. He asserted that no untoward incidents would be tolerated at or near counting venues and ordered continuous surveillance across surrounding neighborhoods.
The SP further instructed officials to strictly abide by State Election Commission guidelines, taking all necessary preventive measures to facilitate a transparent and smooth counting process. He warned that any attempts to disrupt law and order would be dealt with swiftly and firmly.
Highlighting that heavy police bandobust remains deployed at all counting centers, SP Subba Rayudu assured that strict monitoring will continue unabated without negligence until final results are declared.
