Srikalahasti temple hundi collections cross Rs 1.52 crore

Tirupati: Srikalahasteeswara Swamy Temple received more than Rs 1.52 crore in cash offerings from devotees during a 26-day period, according to the hundi counting conducted at the temple on Monday.
The previous hundi counting was held on September 9. Since then, devotees offered Rs 1,46,73,913 in Indian currency notes and Rs 5,98,253 in Indian coins, taking the total cash collection to Rs 1,52,72,166. The offerings also included 37 grams of gold and 421.700 kg of silver.
The temple also received 85 foreign currency notes.The hundi counting was conducted under the supervision of temple Executive Officer BK Venkatesulu, chairman K Sai Prasad, board members and other officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Venkatesulu said the offerings made by devotees visiting the temple were being counted and secured transparently in accordance with the temple rules.
He said the temple authorities were taking necessary measures to ensure the proper handling and safe custody of the offerings.
