President Droupadi Murmu to inaugurate Saras Mela today

Rural poverty alleviation minister Kondapalli Srinivas along with Union minister of state for rural development and communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar inspects the arrangements for the National Saras inauguration by President Droupadi Murmu in Vijayawada on Thursday
Vijayawada: National Saras will provide an important platform for women’s empowerment and the development of rural entrepreneurs by helping them showcase their skills, market their products and improve their livelihoods, minister for MSME, rural poverty alleviation and NRI empowerment Kondapalli Srinivas said.
The minister, along with Union minister of state for rural development and communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, inspected the arrangements for the National Saras inauguration by President Droupadi Murmu in Vijayawada on Thursday.
Speaking to the media after reviewing the arrangements, Kondapalli said the event would offer rural women an opportunity to learn, demonstrate their skills and gain financial independence. Women producing goods in their villages could use the fair to sell their products, build confidence and inspire others in their communities to take up entrepreneurial activities.
He said the exhibition would help women understand product pricing, consumer purchasing power and ways to increase their earnings.
Stall allotments had been made transparently through online applications to eliminate middlemen and provide greater visibility to rural products.
Following Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s initiative, 300 women entrepreneurs from each district are being brought to the Saras fair and provided specialised training through dedicated sessions, the Minister said. All sessions conducted on the stage would be live-streamed through the official YouTube channel to reach and inspire women across the State.
President Droupadi Murmu and Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan are scheduled to attend Thursday’s inauguration. Kondapalli expressed confidence that National Saras would encourage more women to become entrepreneurs and create opportunities for their economic progress.
