New Zilla Parishads to start functioning from Sept 25

Vijayawada: The newly reconstituted Zilla Praja Parishads (ZPs) in the state will commence functioning in their respective jurisdictions from September 25 following the reorganisation of districts from 13 to 28. As part of the exercise, the erstwhile Krishna Zilla Parishad has been divided among Krishna, NTR and Eluru districts. Of the 49 mandals under the erstwhile Krishna ZP, 25 mandals have been retained with Krishna district, 16 mandals have been allocated to NTR district and eight mandals have been merged with Eluru district.

The tenure of the existing Zilla Parishads will end on September 24, following which the newly constituted ZPs will start functioning from September 25. Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Commissioner VR Krishna Teja Mylavarapu directed the Nodal District Collectors to distribute ZP officials and staff among the three districts in accordance with prescribed guidelines.

Accordingly, 104 posts in the erstwhile Krishna ZP have been provisionally divided, with 54 posts allocated to Krishna ZP, 34 to NTR ZP and 16 to Eluru ZP.

The distribution has been made broadly in the ratio of 50% to Krishna, 34% to NTR and 16% to Eluru. Of the eight Administrative Officer (AO) posts, four have been allotted to Krishna, three to NTR and one to Eluru. Similarly, of 18 Senior Assistant posts, nine have been allocated to Krishna, six to NTR and three to Eluru. Of the 40 Junior Assistant posts, 20 have gone to Krishna, 13 to NTR and seven to Eluru.

Of the 20 subordinate posts, 10 have been allotted to Krishna, seven to NTR and three to Eluru. Typists, Record Assistants, drivers and other staff have also been distributed among the three ZPs. Meanwhile, arrangements are being made to accommodate the newly formed NTR ZP office in Vijayawada. The erstwhile Krishna ZP authorities have renovated buildings on the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department premises for the NTR ZP office, meeting hall and the Chief Executive Officer’s office and residence. Former Krishna ZP chairperson Uppala Harika recently inaugurated two renovated buildings.
