Vijayawada: Vadithya Sankar Naik, founder and national president of Girijana Praja Samakhya (GPS) and former Member of the AP State Scheduled Tribes Commission, has urged the Central Government to substantially increase annual allocations to States through the National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC) to promote self-employment among unemployed tribal youth.

He met National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) chairman Antar Singh Arya in New Delhi on Wednesday and submitted a detailed representation seeking enhanced financial assistance, simplified loan procedures and better employment opportunities for tribal youth.

Speaking on the occasion, Sankar Naik stressed the need to simplify the application and loan sanctioning process to ensure that eligible tribal youth could access financial assistance without unnecessary procedural hurdles. He particularly sought increased NSTFDC allocations for Andhra Pradesh, taking into account its tribal population and the growing demand for livelihood opportunities among unemployed tribal youth.
